During the process of planning our own wedding, we were searching for something to use for the bar at our outdoor cocktail hour and wedding reception. Of course, we could always use a table, but since the bar tends to be one of the main gathering spots, we wanted something a little extra that was welcoming, attractive, and something that fit in with our rustic/boho theme.
Eventually (after one of us persuaded the other one for awhile), we fell in love with the idea of renovating an old trailer and converting it into a mobile bar. At first we didn't know if it would be possible to learn all of the skills involved -- especially in the midst of all of our other DIY wedding projects -- but when my husband’s family decided they were all in and wanted to help us build it, and then we found a 1970’s vintage horse trailer for sale (and in need of some serious love) about an hour away, we decided we couldn't pass up the opportunity!
To be honest, when we first bought the trailer — which we have since lovingly named Chester — it was in pretty bad shape (covered in rust, missing a floor, and a lopsided frame from a previous collision), but luckily it still had good bones. With only 3 months to go until the wedding, we spent just about every free day (and night) we had researching, brainstorming, renovating, and learning how to renovate an old horse trailer. Everything took longer than we expected. Most things had to be completely re-done at least once because we did it wrong the first time. It was a pretty frustrating process at times, but we got through it, and now it’s hard to believe that Chester is still the same horse trailer!
Chester was a huge hit at our wedding, and we realized other people might enjoy him as much as we did. so we decided to turn our mobile bar into a business.
Since launching our business, we have been known to go above and beyond to please our clients. One of our bartenders has been known to make his own simple syrup, and hand squeeze about 40 limes for a big batch of margaritas instead of using store-bought lime juice so we can serve deliciously fresh cocktails.
Worried about rain? If the forecast is iffy leading up to your event we’ll bring our 10’ x 20’ white tent that we can set up in front of the bar window, and we’ll also set up a few buckets full of umbrellas for you and your guests to use. We aim to create a unique and memorable experience for our customers. We would love to make your event as special as possible!
