During our wedding planning process, we were searching for something to use for the bar at our outdoor cocktail hour and wedding reception. Of course, we could always use a table, but since the bar tends to be one of the main gathering spots, we wanted something a little extra that was welcoming, attractive, and something that fit in with our rustic/boho theme.
We discovered the world of mobile bars, and we fell in love with the idea of building our own. At first we didn't know if it would be possible -- especially in the midst of all of our other DIY wedding projects -- but when we found a horse trailer for sale about an hour away for just $150 on Craigslist, we decided we couldn't pass up the chance to try!
To be honest, when we first bought the trailer it was in pretty bad shape (covered in rust, missing a floor, and a lopsided frame from a previous collision), but luckily it still had good bones. With only 3 months to go until the wedding, we spent just about every free day (and night) we had researching, brainstorming, renovating, and learning how to renovate an old horse trailer. Everything took longer than we expected. Most things had to be completely re-done at least once because we did it wrong the first time. It was a pretty frustrating process at times, but we got through it!
Chester's big debut was at our own wedding on September 2, 2018 in Havre de Grace Maryland, and he is ready to impress guests at your next event!
